Trentino lies at the heart of our winery
Our history of cooperation
Our story begins over a century ago. In 1904 a first small group of winemakers chose to join together in a cooperative form. Since then we have been cultivating our vineyards with love and respect for the environment and handing down the art of making wine in Trentino. Today we are more than 1500 and we represent the backbone of our winery in Trentino: an alliance that allows us to cultivate our vineyards with the utmost care and competence. By combining this culture and its values with the most innovative integrated production systems, we create wine boasting quality and sustainability.
Cantina Sociale di Mezzocorona
11 members set up the first wine-growing cooperative of Mezzocorona.
La Lega Dei Contadini di Mezzocorona (Mezzacorona Farmers' League)
A second cooperative defending the rights of small producers is founded.
Cantina Produttori di Mezzacorona
The third cooperative experience begins with objectives similar to the two previous experiences.
Cantina Sociale Cooperativa di Mezzocorona
The two main wine-growing Cooperative Societies of Mezzocorona merge: the Social Winery and the farmers’ League.
Teroldego Rotaliano DOC
In 1968, the valorisation of Teroldego Rotaliano with the DOC recognition (“Denomination of controlled origin”) for this symbolic oenological product from the Cantina Sociale di Mezzocorona. The first bottle of Teroldego Rotaliano DOC, among the first in Trentino was launched by the cellar in 1971.
Creation of Cantine Mezzocorona
The 137 members of the Producers' Cooperative join the 630 members of the social wine cellar. There are mergers between local cooperatives. The aim is to operate in the wine making field with greater homogeneity, striving towards organisational growth in the name of quality, benefitting the entire local community as well as responding to a highly competitive world market. This leads to the creation of Cantine Mezzacorona, housed in the current headquarters.
Purchase of former SAMATEC land and set up the Cittadella del Vino (Citadel of wine) project
The major project of ex-industrial redevelopment with the purchase of former Samatec area and creation of the Cittadella del Vino (Citadel of wine).
Partnership with the wine cellars of Salorno and Ala
The start of an alliance with two important wine-growing entities: the Salorno Winery (1994) and the Cantina Sociale cellars of Ala (1995) who became sole partners of the Mezzacorona Cellars.
Wine cellars
In the Cittadella del Vino (Citadel of wine), a wine cellar for vinification is built, which together with the winemaking and harvesting center in Arco, is the center for the collection, transformation and refinement of the oenological product.
100th anniversary of the founding
Premises for bottling, storage and shipping are added to the Cittadella del Vino (Citadel of wine), thus optimizing the various stages of wine processing and opening doors to the management center of the winery and the companies’ subsidiaries.
End of work on the Cittadella del Vino (Citadel of wine)
The Cittadella del Vino (Citadel of wine) is completed, with the commissioning of an innovative and efficient bottling facility for over 15 thousand bottles/hour, equipped with a new cellar for the preparation of wines.
New historical museum route “The roots of our future”
The new guided visit in the Cittadella del Vino (Citadel of wine) is opened, leading visitors to the original barrique cellar along a tour which retraces the historical stages of the culture and tradition of wine in the Piana Rotaliana and in particular Mezzocorona.
Certification for the sustainable quality of SQNPI wine
Since 2016, members of the Mezzacorona Group have achieved SQNPI Certification - National Quality System of Integrated Production. Additional quality certificates, such as GRASP Certification obtained by the fruit-growing consortium Valentina were awarded, aimed at controlling risks in social practices in agriculture.The SMETA audit carried out by Nosio S.p.A. certifies the presence of ethical criteria in the supply chain.
New Structural Investments
The Group increases the capacity of the water purification plant for processing and completes the new biological purification plant with membrane filtration at the collection center in Arco.
It also upgrades the entire production facility with a massive investment in technology.

Our vineyards are looked after by hand; we use environmentally and health-friendly defence techniques against harm; we recover and reprocess production waste. Our commitment to the protection and enhancement of our grapes characterizes all phases of the production cycle.

We only use Trentino pergolas and cultivate the individual varieties in their natural habitat: two traditional farming choices that enable us to work the grape fields manually, protect the grapes and produce wines with an authentic flavor. Authentic natural photovoltaic panels able to capture sunlight so as to improve the quality of the grapes, protect them from direct light and improve ventilation, the Trentino pergolas give the countryside its typical "wave" shape that makes it immediately recognizable and which has inspired the architecture of our winery.
