Characteristics
Production area
Particularly early harvest, under stable climatic conditions that characterize the entire harvest period of white grapes. The harvest takes place in the second half of September, with variations occurring according to altitude and exposure of the vineyard. To allow the typical Gewürztraminer aromas to fully develop, the grapes are allowed to slightly over-ripen: for the 2018 vintage, the grapes were harvested at the point of perfect ripening, still fragrant and with exceptional aroma. Once collected in perforated containers, part of the grapes are immediately sent to pressing, while the remaining portion is stored in refrigerated cells.
Vinification
The vineyards selected for the production of Gewürztraminer Musivum 2018 come from the most suitable areas for the cultivation of this variety in Trentino: the hills surrounding the villages of Faedo, Sorni and Pressano, at an altitude of 300 - 500 meters above sea level.
The origin of this variety is still controversial: to date, the two main wine-growing regions that produce it - Alsace and Trentino-South Tyrol - are competing for the title to its ownership. The presence in Trentino-South Tyrol of a town called “Tramin” - “Termeno” reinforces the hypothesis that the homeland of this extraordinary vine is precisely our region.
