Gewürztraminer Trentino Superiore

In German, the term “Gewürz” means “spicy”, testifying to the particular aromatic properties of this coppery berry grape, which make it unique and difficult to imitate. The objective of consistently preserving the high quality of this grape variety makes its cultivation quite challenging. For this reason, this variety is grown only in areas that enhance its peculiar characteristics, namely, on hills with good sun exposure, though not too hot, and that offer marked day-to-night temperature fluctuations. As a result, the vineyards are planted at a significant altitude, so as to promote the typical aromas and flavor precursors of the grapes they yield. The variety also requires particular dedication in terms of hours of work in the vineyard.

Production area
Particularly early harvest, under stable climatic conditions that characterize the entire harvest period of white grapes. The harvest takes place in the second half of September, with variations occurring according to altitude and exposure of the vineyard. To allow the typical Gewürztraminer aromas to fully develop, the grapes are allowed to slightly over-ripen: for the 2018 vintage, the grapes were harvested at the point of perfect ripening, still fragrant and with exceptional aroma. Once collected in perforated containers, part of the grapes are immediately sent to pressing, while the remaining portion is stored in  refrigerated cells.
The vineyards selected for the production of Gewürztraminer Musivum 2018 come from the most suitable areas for the cultivation of this variety in Trentino: the hills surrounding the villages of Faedo, Sorni and Pressano, at an altitude of 300 - 500 meters above sea level.

The origin of this variety is still controversial: to date, the two main wine-growing regions that produce it - Alsace and Trentino-South Tyrol - are competing for the title to its ownership. The presence in Trentino-South Tyrol of a town called “Tramin” - “Termeno”  reinforces the hypothesis that the homeland of this extraordinary vine is precisely our region.
This intense straw yellow wine releases bright and golden reflections. Its intense aroma palette is quite intriguing: notes of rose petals, spicy white flowers and ripe yellow fruit enriched with hints of aromatic spices, like cloves, ginger, cinnamon, saffron and nutmeg. It releases energy to the palate. It is a full-bodied wine with a marked aroma accompanied by freshness and minerality that create a unique balance of infinite persistence.
